If you haven't used Android Auto yet or don't use it that often, you're missing out. It makes multitasking at the steering wheel easier whenever it becomes necessary. How exactly does it all work? We thought you'd never ask. Our team at Conroe, TX DeMontrond Auto Country has your quick rundown.
Android Auto is an app released in 2015. It's available from Google Play, but it's also built into smartphones running Android 10 or later. Android Auto syncs your smartphone with your car's infotainment system, displaying your phone's screens and apps on the in-dash infotainment touchscreen. Just like your phone, you can access navigation, communication, or entertainment through voice commands or standard touchscreen functions: swipe, pinch-and-zoom, etc.
How Does It Work? All you need do is open Android Auto and follow its simple instructions to pair your smartphone and vehicle. After the two become synced, you can use voice or touchscreen functions to:
- Pull up navigation via Waze or Google Maps
- Receive real-time alerts and info about places along your route
- Ask Google Assistant for help
- Find EV charging stations and gas stations
- Reserve parking
- Start hands-free phone calls or chats
- Respond to messages hands-free
